Welcome to SpeLoG - Species List of Greece

SpeLog is the scratchpad that lists all species in Greece. It is developed in the framework of LifeWatch Greece (www.lifewatchgreece.eu) where it serves as the taxonomic backbone for Greek biodiversity data management and analyses, including the PESI national focal point, the GBIF Greece node, and the MedOBIS Regional Node (within the ERMS context in WoRMS) .

SpeLoG resumes in a different structure a previous attempt of listing the species of Greece in the framework of the Greek Biodiversity Database (Βάση Δεδομένων Ελληνική Βιοποικιλότητα). Managed by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), this biodiversity information system contains also information on habitats, and the collection database of its museum.Although incomplete and apparently updated only up to 2008, the species list and the website are frozen since 2010.

Please contact Vasilis Gerovasileiou to signal the most recent check-lists of species per group in Greece, and the most recent revisions at country, regional, European or global level, that may affect the taxonomy or the nomenclature of species reported from Greece (including non-native species), and first and new records, misidentifications and other errors, that may affect the list itself.

Please contact Nicolas Bailly for any further information.
